“It’s déjà vu all over again.”
I am now a 2024 candidate for the Wisconsin State Assembly in District #39, but running for the Assembly is not the déjà vu part. The déjà vu part is letting you know that I am a 2024 candidate. Way back in the fall of 2023 I was a candidate for Wisconsin senate in District #14. Last month, when we got fair and balanced voting maps, Marquette County where we live, was designated as part of the 13th Senate District, thereby making it necessary to close my campaign.
Though my campaign for Senate was over, my commitment to advocate for rural Wisconsin continued. When the 39th Assembly District was looking for someone to represent progressive interests, I was happy to step forward. Though I am running for a different seat, my agenda remains the same. We need healthy communities, healthy resources and healthy change. The health of our rural communities is dependent on strong schools, robust local economies, and vigorous community services. Healthy resources mean clean water, clean land and clean energy. Healthy change encompasses positive incremental change for funding education, assuring that childcare, housing and universal healthcare are more accessible and more affordable. It also means that we commit to achieving equity and justice for all.
I invite all of you to join me on this journey. Let’s commit to use our time until November 5th to engage with our families, friends, neighbors and colleagues to share our progressive goals and our message of a bright future filled with opportunity. Yes, it’s important to get a win for the 39th Assembly seat, but our work includes victories for Tammy Baldwin and Joe Biden as well. Democracy depends on each of us.
Peace,
Chris Gordon
